Antennaria rosea (Rosy Everlasting) - photos and description

Origin: Native.

General: Low growing Antennaria species, more or less mat-forming in its growth habit. Foliage is woolly, and grey in appearance.

Flowers: Flower heads with reddish-pink bracts, flower heads grow in dense panicle, we measured a flower head at 1 cm long.

Leaves: Basal leaves spatulate, pointed at apex, white woolly on both sides. Basal leaf measured 2.5 cm long and 8 mm wide. Stem leaves are alternate, clasping to sessile, lanceolate, typical leaf measured at 2 cm long and 4 mm wide.

Height: Height listed in Budd's Flora to 50 cm. We measured plants to 21 cm tall.

Habitat: Habitat is meadows and moist hillsides.

Abundance: Common in the Cypress Hills.

When and where photographed: Photos were taken June 21st, grassland, Cypress Hills, 450 km south west of our home in Regina, SK.
