Conyza canadensis (Canada Fleabane) - photos and description

Origin: Native.

General: An annual, native weedy species with a slender growth habit. Foliage pubescent.

Flowers: Flowers many in an open panicle, white ray florets with yellow disk florets, flower head measured at 5 mm long and 3 mm wide.

Leaves: Lower leaves spatulate, leaves mid and upper stem are linear, alternate, ciliate, leaf highlighted in above photo was 5 cm long and 3 mm wide.

Height: Height listed in Budd's Flora to 100 cm, we measured plants to 49 cm tall.

Habitat: Dry soil, cultivated and waste ground.

Abundance: Common.

Synonym: Listed in some of the field guides we use as Erigeron canadensis.

When and where photographed: Above photos taken in August 6th, sandy roadside in the boreal forest, about 450 km north east of our home in Regina, SK.
