Limosella aquatica (Mudwort) - photos and description
Clump of several plants
Origin: Native.
General: Prostrate annual plants with leaves in a basal tuft. Plants glabrous.
Flowers: Small white flowers on short stalks from the crown, flowers measured at 2 mm diameter.
Leaves: Leaves basal, have long petioles, blades are elliptical. We measured a leaf blade at 9 mm long and 5 mm wide, petioles measured to 8 cm long.
Height: Not applicable.
Habitat: Mud flats and shallow water.
Abundance: Fairly common.
When and where photographed: Photos taken June 30th growing in mud in a dried up stream bed, Cypress Hills about 450 km south west of our home in Regina, SK.
