General: Plants with a branching growth habit, rhizomatous. Stems are white coloured, glabrous.

Flowers: Large white flowers open in the morning and last one day - fading to pink in the afternoon. Flowers solitary on their peduncles, with 4-parted styles, and grow from upper leaf axils. We measured a flower at 4.5 cm in diameter.

Leaves: Leaves are alternate, linear with somewhat wavy margins. I measured leaves to 6 cm long and 8 mm wide. Leaf bottoms are pubescent, while margins and tops have short hairs.

Height: Height in Budd's Flora is listed to 100 cm, we measured plants to 90 cm tall.

Habitat: Light or sandy soil in our grasslands or edges of aspen groves.

Abundance: Common.

Origin: Native.

When and where photographed: These photos were taken July 13 sand dunes on the shore of Good Spirit Lake about 225 km northeast of Regina, SK, and July 15th on stabilized sand dunes, about 20 km east of Regina, SK.
