Sisyrinchium septentrionale (Northern Blue-eyed Grass) - photos and description
General: Perennial with a slender, tufted growth habit. Plants glabrous.
Flowers: Flowers white to pale blue, flowers measured to 10 mm diameter and 6 mm long. Outer bract measured at 22 mm long, inner bract at 15 mm long, pedicel measured at 8 mm long.
Leaves: Narrow, all basal, grass-like, with leaves arranged like a fan. Leaves measured at 1 mm wide.
Height: We measured plants to 15 cm tall.
Habitat: Moist, grassy areas.
Abundance: Rare, ranked as an S3 (as of 2021) by the Saskatchewan Conservation Data Centre.
Origin: Native.
When and where photographed: Above photos taken June 3rd and June 8th, moist meadow in pasture, about 120 km southwest of our home in Regina, SK.
