Triglochin maritima (Seaside Arrow Grass) - photos and description
Origin: Native.
General: Grass-like perennial from a stout rhizome, stems leafless. Plants glabrous.
Flowers: Very small pinkish-white to greenish-white flowers borne in long spikes, we measured flowers at 2 mm diameter, and a spike to 25 cm diameter.
Leaves: All basal, linear, thick, top half of leaves are round in profile. Leaves to 2 mm wide, about as tall as the flowering stem.
Height: Height listed in Budd's Flora to 80 cm, we measured plants to 83 cm tall.
Habitat: Marshes and wet places.
Abundance: Common.
When and where photographed: Photos taken August 5th, wet meadow, boreal forest in east central Saskatchewan about 425 km north of our home in Regina, SK.
